If you’re considering learning to dive or taking your next level of dive training, you don’t have to wait until you are on holiday or ready to take the practical components of your course. You can start studying from home with PADI eLearning!
PADI eLearning is precisely what it sounds like – learning the theory components of your course online. There are multiple reasons why we recommend taking PADI eLearning. Here are some of the benefits you may not have considered…
No Studying on Vacation
By completing your theory from home in advance, you won’t have to spend hours in a classroom when you’re on your vacation. You’ll simply take a quick review to ensure you understood the eLearning content, and the rest of your holiday time will be packed with the fun stuff – being underwater!
Study when it suits you
When you sign up for eLearning, you sign up for independent study. This means you’ll be able to study at times that suit you and your schedule. Whether you are working, at school, or have other commitments, eLearning gives you maximum flexibility.
No deadlines, no pressure
PADI eLearning puts you in control of how you study. You can move through your course at a pace that suits you and your learning style.
There’s no pressure because the most popular online PADI programs do not expire. Take as much time as you need to complete: Open Water, Advanced Open Water, Enriched Air Diver, and the Instructor Development Course (IDC). After finishing your online training, you can review the study material as many times as you want. Your only deadline is when you board your flight for your underwater adventure for these courses! Even then, you’ll be able to complete your eLearning anywhere with an internet connection.
(For PADI eLearning programs not listed above, access expires after 12 months. You’ll be notified by email 90 days and 60 days before access to your program expires).
Support a local dive center
If you are planning to take your course while on holiday, once you have completed your eLearning, you can also take the confined water (swimming pool sessions) at a local dive shop close to home (find dive shops near you here). This means you’ll be making the ocean dives on vacation instead of spending time in a pool. It also means you’ll be supporting a local dive shop in your home area, potentially meeting other divers, and joining your local diving community.
Plan your budget
Taking a dive course is a financial commitment that we need to plan and save for. By taking PADI eLearning, you can spread the cost of your dive course over 2 payments, one for eLearning and one at your chosen dive center – giving you time to budget and save in between! If you opt to take your confined water at a local dive center and the open water dives on vacation, you’ll be able to spread that cost too.
Plenty of options
Did you know that most of PADI’s most popular courses are available online and in several different languages? In addition to this, PADI eLearning is accepted by more than 137,000 dive professionals and 6,600 dive centers and resorts worldwide.
You can study online with PADI eLearning for the following courses:
Open Water Diver Advanced Open Water Diver Rescue Diver Divemaster Enriched Air Diver Digital Underwater Photographer Dry Suit Diver Deep Diver Wreck Diver Night Diver Boat Diver Drift Diver Underwater Navigator Peak Performance Buoyancy Equipment Specialist Search and Recovery Diver Propulsion Vehicle ReActivate Dive Theory Instructor DevelopmentIdeal for families and kids
If you want to learn to dive as a family, or your kids are planning to get certified, PADI eLearning means you can study together from home. Children who are learning to dive take the same theory as adults, so learning at home means less pressure on them as you can move through the course together at a pace that suits all family members. It’s also incredibly rewarding to support each other and celebrate completing each module along the way!
You can still study offline
If you have concerns about your ability to connect to the internet, you’ll be pleased to hear that you can download course content in advance through the PADI Training app, which you can use to study offline. When you get back online, you can simply upload your progress.
Give the gift of eLearning
If you want to learn to dive but don’t want to do it alone, you can also give eLearning as a gift. All you need to gift an eLearning pass is the recipient’s email address. Visit the PADI eLearning gift pass page to learn more – you can also find other fantastic gift ideas for divers in our dedicated dive gifts Blog.
