What Scuba Diving is Like for a Blind Diver

In a world where we often discuss the beauty of our surroundings in visual terms, it is easy to forget the richness other senses bring to our experiences. What other senses come alive when visual cues are taken out of the equation? This question brings us to the remarkable tale of PADI AmbassaDiver Jessica Pita, a legally blind diver, who sees the underwater world without sight but with a heart full of adventurous spirit.

What It’s Like Diving at One of the Most Eco-Friendly Dive Centers in the World

Scuba diving has always been more than just a hobby for me; it’s a way to give back to the environment and to show others the magic of everything found under the surface. Recently, I took this journey a step further by diving with Ceningan Divers in Indonesia, a renowned PADI Eco Center and one of the top two most eco-friendly dive centers on Earth, according to their Green Fins environmental impact score. This experience opened my eyes to how sustainable the dive industry and dive centers around the world can be by not only making as little impact as possible on the marine environment but also regenerating degraded habitats.

Are Sharks Endangered?

Sharks are some of the coolest and well-known fish in the sea. Some sharks, like great white, tiger and bull sharks, seem formidable and even invincible. While sharks have lived on Earth for over 400 million years, they are facing many threats today. Recent studies show that one third of all chondrichthyans (sharks and their relatives) are endangered, shark and ray populations fell by 71.1% from 1970 to 2018, and sharks are missing from 19% of the world’s coral reefs. This begs the questions, are sharks endangered? Are all sharks endangered, or at risk of extinction?

Bar or PSI – Why It Doesn’t Matter Which You Use

Scuba diving is a global sport, welcoming participants from all over the world. When comparing scuba diving in different countries, we need to take into consideration that some aspects change along the way, and one of the main things that changes from country to country is units of measurement. For example, when traveling, we have to convert miles to kilometers, pounds to kilograms, and Celsius to Fahrenheit. The numbers change but the physical measurements are the same. Bar or PSI is one additional measurement change scuba divers sometimes encounter. Below, we’ll explore how these units of measurement compare.
